PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A RECORDING OF THEIR WORKSHOPS

FEBRUARY 2, 2024

10:00 am - 12:00 pm in Online Session 1: Theory and step-by-step examples.
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm Self-guided shooting and lunch break. Sharon will give you instructions on what to shoot in preparation for the afternoon session.
1:30 - approx. 3:00 Online Session 2: Post processing images

Pacific Standard Time

For the self-guided shooting you will need: a camera with a wide angle lens - anything in a 24mm range will be fine and a card reader to download your files - no need to bring a tripod.

Please go through your camera menu and make sure to have a grid display on your view finder (if you have that option, some cameras don’t. If your camera doesn’t, don’t worry, we will work around it).

*Students attending this Workshop should have knowledge in Basic Photoshop: Layers, Adjustment Layers, Masks and the Brush Tool (the material taught in Sharon’s Basic Photoshop Workshop).
**Participants MUST have a computer with Photoshop installed.

Stacking Images:

Learn how to create fine art images using this technique to convey your vision. Sharon will walk you through step-by-step of the process. Within a few hours, you will master the vision and technique of Cubism like artistic photography. The images in the examples below will all be explained in the workshop.

Highlighting Student Work:

The subject matter for this technique is endless. I am constantly amazed and proud of my students when they present an assignment that is original and thoughtful. I would like to share with you a series of 6 images created by one of my Langara College students, Lesley Thomas. Lesley used the stacking technique to create a series of artisans.

  • Nearing the date of the workshop, Sharon will send out an information email with further instructions and practice files to be downloaded onto your computer for use in the workshop.

  • The online workshop will be through Zoom in video conference format. Every participant will be able to see Sharon and her screen as well as share theirs for assistance. Prior to the workshop, Sharon will be sending a Zoom invite and contacting each participant to make sure they are set up with the Zoom program.

  • As this workshop is online, it will require you to be able to handle the use of Photoshop in conjunction with Zoom. You will need to have the basic digital ability to toggle between the two, or know how to have the two displayed on your screen. Working with two screens helps but not necessary.

  • Session recordings are posted for download and the link will expire after one month.
